
The other day, I spent a sunny afternoon walking along the Georgetown Waterfront in Washington, DC, and it turned out to be one of those simple yet memorable experiences. The wide brick promenade was alive with color—American flags fluttered above lamp posts draped in bright flowers, while rows of cafés and restaurants opened their patios to the river breeze.
